Referral Program

Earn 5% for introducing a client to Opreto.

Know a company that needs software engineering support? Introduce us and earn a share of its first twelve months of engineering fees, paid as we collect payment. We plan the introduction with you, follow up personally, and keep you informed.

How the money works

  1. What you earn

Earn 5% of engineering fees invoiced during the twelve months starting with the client's first engineering invoice. Taxes, billed expenses, and refunded amounts are excluded. Commission is paid after we receive the client's payment, including payments received after the twelve-month window ends.

  2. New projects

When a client you referred starts a genuinely new project with Opreto, you earn commission on that project for twelve months from its first engineering invoice. Extensions and continuations of an existing project stay within its original window. We confirm the new project's eligibility with you in writing before work starts. Each fee earns commission only once.

  3. The higher rate

After your third referred client makes their first payment, new referrals you register earn 7.5%. Previously registered referrals keep their original rate.

  4. When you are paid

We pay commissions by the end of the month following receipt of the client's payment. Each payment includes a statement showing the eligible engineering fees collected and your commission. There is no minimum payout. We arrange the payment method with you.

  5. How you take it

Cash, on that same schedule. A donation of the full amount to a charity you name, with confirmation of the donation sent to you. Or engineering credit toward Opreto work on a project you choose. Each is available where your employment and professional obligations permit. Disclose the arrangement and obtain any required approval before participating. If you cannot accept a reward in any form, you can still make an unpaid introduction.

  6. What a referral is worth

For a $200,000 engagement, you would earn $10,000 at 5%, or $15,000 at 7.5%, assuming all $200,000 represents eligible engineering fees invoiced within the twelve-month window and paid by the client.

  7. If the terms change

If we change these terms, referrals already registered keep the terms they were registered under.

How we handle your introduction

  • You control the introduction. We agree on the approach with you before contacting anyone.
  • Your contact gets personal follow-up. We never add them to an automated sales sequence. If they stop responding, we stop following up.
  • You know where things stand. A named contact at Opreto keeps you updated at key milestones.

Stay involved as much or as little as you like. You can join calls with your contact's agreement, and we keep you updated at key milestones. You can ask us to stop introductory outreach at any time. Once your contact establishes a direct working relationship with Opreto, we agree on next steps with them.

Who to introduce

You might know a company with a software project that has stalled, an engineering team that needs experienced support, or equipment that needs better software around it. If you see a possible fit, tell us what is happening. Two sentences is enough. We can work out the details together.

Referral partners often come from these backgrounds:

  • Fractional CTOs and CFOs
  • Design, brand, and data agencies that do not take engineering work
  • Former colleagues who know what our team ships
  • Operating partners at private equity and venture firms
  • Equipment vendors and system integrators
  • Accountants, lawyers, and advisors serving mid-market operators
  • Academics and researchers with industry contacts

How it works

1

Name and work email. Signing up is not a referral and does not commit you to making one. It puts you in touch with the person here who runs the program, so you can ask whatever you want before you put a name forward.

2

Register the company

Send us the company name before making the introduction. We check eligibility and confirm registration by email, including your rate and the registration date.

3

Make the introduction

We agree on the approach with you first. You decide how it happens: you forward an email, you make a call, or we draft something for you to send.

4

Stay as involved as you like

You can join calls with your contact's agreement, and we keep you updated at key milestones. You can ask us to stop introductory outreach at any time.

5

Get paid

By the end of the month following receipt of the client's payment, with a statement showing the eligible engineering fees collected and your commission.

Common questions

A company you introduce that you registered with us beforehand and that we confirmed by email. If the company signs an engagement within twelve months of that registration date, the referral qualifies. We confirm your rate and the registration date in writing when we accept the registration.

The first eligible referral we accept in writing takes priority. That is one reason to register the company with us before making the introduction rather than after.

Send us the company name before making the introduction and we check. If they are already in an active conversation with us, we tell you and no registration is made. We would rather resolve this before an introduction than after an engagement is signed.

Cash, donations, and engineering credits are available where your employment and professional obligations permit them. Disclose the arrangement and obtain any required approval before participating. If you cannot accept a reward in any form, you can still make an unpaid introduction.

No. The introduction is the whole job. You do not need to explain what we do, qualify anyone, or sit in on a scoping call. You can stay close to the conversation if you want to, but that is a choice rather than an expectation.

When a client needs expertise you offer, we consider you for the introduction based on fit. We cannot guarantee reciprocal referrals. Co-selling and delivery partnerships are also possible under separate agreements.

The program is built around introductions to people you have a relationship with. We do not accept lists of companies you have no connection to, because the introduction is what makes a referral work.

That is a delivery partnership rather than a referral, and it runs on separate terms. Talk to us about it directly.

No. Every referral goes through a conversation and a written registration.

A short one, and it says what this page says. We send it when you register your first referral, not before. There is no exclusivity, no minimum activity, and no term you are locked into.

Yes. Each referral runs on its own twelve-month window. After your third referred client makes their first payment, new referrals you register earn 7.5%.
